Choosing a Site
Pick the sunniest spot you have, sheltered from strong wind, with reasonable drainage and easy access to water. Avoid low points where cold air and water pool, and keep beds away from large tree roots that compete for moisture. If the only sunny ground is poor, a raised bed or containers let you bring in good soil rather than fighting what is there.
