Companion Planting for Pest Deterrence
Some plant combinations reduce pest pressure. Strongly scented herbs and flowers like basil, marigold, and calendula can mask the smell of a target crop or draw pests away from it, and flowering companions bring in predatory insects. Results vary with conditions and are rarely a complete solution, so treat companion planting as one useful layer alongside monitoring and good garden hygiene rather than a guarantee.
