NPK Explained
The three numbers on a fertilizer label are the percentages by weight of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Nitrogen drives leafy green growth, phosphorus supports roots and flowering, and potassium supports overall vigour and fruit quality. A 10-10-10 product is balanced; a 5-10-10 leans toward flowering and fruiting. The rest of the bag is filler and minor nutrients. Match the ratio to the job: more nitrogen for leafy crops, less once a plant should be setting fruit.
