Planting Calendars & Frost Dates
Your last spring frost and first autumn frost dates set the growing season. Cool-season crops like peas, lettuce, and kale go out weeks before the last frost; warm-season crops like tomatoes, peppers, and squash wait until it has safely passed and the soil has warmed. Count backward from the frost dates using the days-to-maturity on the seed packet to work out when to sow each crop.
